Four simple ways to make them last

Your best ally: a good cobbler.

Once you are sure you will keep them, consider having a rubber sole guard attached to your soles by your favorite cobbler. This will prevent you from slipping and also protect your leather soles for many years to come.

The soles are made of leather and are all covered with a varnish that gives them a vintage look. This varnish may be a little slippery at first. You can help the varnish wear off using sandpaper, for example, by rubbing it, or let it disappear naturally by wearing them at home. When the varnish has completely disappeared, the raw leather of the sole—a grey leather—will appear. This is completely normal. Afterwards, you should keep an eye on how it wears and not wait too long before having a rubber sole guard attached.
Also, be aware that the varnish applied to your soles has a very short lifespan because it is mainly aesthetic and not intended to last. After half a day or a full day, the film will have almost disappeared. But do not worry, this is the normal process in the life of a sole.

Shoe trees and a little love.

Remember to use shoe trees (or newspaper) to help them keep their shape and store your shoes carefully, away from heat and humidity.

Keep your heel tips in good shape

Heel tips, those small pieces of plastic used to protect the end of your heels, will need to be replaced regularly. They can become damaged or come off more quickly if you walk on uneven surfaces (cobblestone paths, gravel, sidewalks, etc.) or if you snag them while walking, but don't panic—a cobbler can replace them in a jiffy. Please note that if a heel tip comes off, you should not continue to walk in your shoe until it has been replaced. Otherwise, you risk permanently damaging the heel or the material.

Always Handle with Care

Patricia Blanchet shoes are delicate and should be treated like jewelry. It is important to care for the leather, but also to be mindful of the sole and heel. In any case, do not hesitate to consult your cobbler if any damage occurs. They will make your life easier and extend the lifespan of your shoes.
