This morning, as I was doing my squats, I wondered whether these Newsletters, recognized by the Nobel Committee as being of public utility, were read and had any use in a world in perpetual embellishment ? Then, in a sheathing movement, I thought about the pop culture we had in the '80s (the decade of my eye-opening), which was, it seems to me, a little more demanding than today's culture. You could always say that there were bands like Modern Talking or Gold back then. It's true that back then, all kinds of colorful excesses were possible.
But apart from these little follies invented for dancing at weddings, there were little nuggets that made this decade quite conducive to the emergence, or confirmation, of musical geniuses. Of course, the Rita Mitsouko, who, through a few songs, laid the foundations for a concrete pop sound. And I think that's all. I could also mention Prince, George Michael, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Depeche Mode, New Order, the Cure...
The list is long, and I could go on and on and make no less than fifteen News just by lining up the names of those who enchanted our ears in the last century. Well, I'm no old-timer. In fact, I'm not much of anything at the moment, as I'm so exhausted from all the exercise I've been doing to stay fresh and desirable. On the other hand, I know that what's polluting the radio waves and web radios isn't really to my taste.
Of course, if I'm bludgeoned by Zaho de Sagazan or Orelsan all day long, maybe I'll end up finding it wonderful. After all, that's what happened in the Nirvana era, propagandized by MTV and the like. So why not. But what I'm getting at with this is that it's the same with everything. Thought, fashion, food. Many things are now made with the mold of conformity. This is imposed, of course. And sometimes accepted by those who need to reassure themselves by resembling their neighbors as closely as possible.
If Patricia Blanchet exists, it's obviously thanks to you, your need to shine, to feel good, in your place, in your beautiful shoes. So it's possible to be popular and refined without taking the easy way out. That's my message for the day, which probably means nothing, but also everything, just like life. As you well know, life is arrhythmia.
