I was about to write you the world's biggest newsletter, but then decided against it, telling myself that sometimes you need a little earthly anchoring too. So, while I was taking great literary strides, I came up with the idea of telling you about the song Helter Skelter, written by Paul McCartney and featured on the White Album. LP of dissension, of continued experimentation.
Did you know? The origin of "Helter Skelter" is as shaggy as the design of our latest Fifty! McCartney wanted to create a "noisy and dirty" song (like me when I didn't have sex for two days), in response to a critic who said the Beatles were too soft. It's a bit like Patricia Blanchet deciding to launch a line of anti-gravity shoes, just because someone said heels were too conventional.
This song, released in 1968 became a symbol of rebellion, a bit like when you put on a pair of our shoes and suddenly feel that anything is possible. Yeah, EVERYTHING. Even listening to Phil Collins on a loop. Helter Skelter" isn't just a song, it's a revolution in the world of rock, a bit like Patricia Blanchet in the world of shoes. McCartney tore up the rule book, creating a sound that prefigured heavy metal. Imagine a world where the Beatles had done nothing but ballads - unthinkable, isn't it? Just like a world where Patricia Blanchet only made waffle batter (batter, Patricia, do you have it?)
This song showed that it's possible to change the norm, to surprise, and to innovate, values that we at Patricia Blanchet deeply cherish (are we on the road to delonization?).
