June 21 is our day, the day of new hope, of the seasonal empire's counter-attack, of the return of eternal Thursday, of the not-so-ghostly threat of yet another clone war. Except that here, we're not playing with your emotions or feelings. We're all here together to welcome this new stage in a year 2024 that has seen me put a few essential things under wraps. I've played less sport, I haven't touched a glass of alcohol. But that was before. Before life took back its essential rights.
Yes, I didn't drink any more, but did that mean I had a better view of myself ? Did I erect a new Sphinx, or even a Sphinxette, during this year of sobriety ? Did I develop a magic formula to eradicate all the world's diseases ? You'd know about that, wouldn't you ? So why prolong sobriety ? No, because an elderberry spritz is part of life. Castle life, even.
The same goes for sport. I cut myself off from it to indulge in the joys of spirituality and transcendental meditation on the advice of David Lynch. But did this lead me to the creation of a great community ? Yes, a community united by a common project. That of "walking together". And even if no one walks at the same pace and even if the earth is round, we don't meet, remember that appearances and preferences are too important, so let's accept the differences.
