THE TRUE STORY OF THE COCONUT
The first was to pay tribute to Harry Nilsson, a New York singer-songwriter whose voice spanned three and a half octaves, and who became world famous for the Midnight Cowboy song Everybody's Talkin', Without You (composed by Badfinger), which was covered by Mariah Carey but which he made very, very famous, and thus Coconut.
Coconut is my madeleine. And it's about to become yours.
Apart from this fabulous story, which puts the model in the right place, Coconut has a crazy ambition. To change the course of the world. And that's exactly what's going to happen, because you can be sure that with a pair of jewels like these on your feet, there's plenty to light up our path.
Coconut has another meaning, since it's partly the name of the band set up by Jason Schwartzman, Coconut Records: for a very Californian, sunny sound.
So it's a good omen to slip these shoes on. Also because they were made in the back of a Dutch jeweller's shop with the top people in the business. Avram, one of my best friends, thought very hard with me to concoct this superb boot, which deserves to be the next artefact Indiana Jones will be chasing in his next opus.
The Coconut came to us in a shared vision when we were emptying his wine cellar and talking about the imminent arrival of quantum shoes. We agreed that the Coconut would be the first shoe of its kind to be given the gentle moniker of supershoes.
