THE TRUE STORY OF THE DELFONIA
I make choices. Sometimes they're more complex than others because they require giving up. And giving up reminds me of 30 million friends and then Mabrouk. Since he left, I've never watched the show again, because he was its worthy symbol. Delfonia's origins lie in one of the many trips I made to Los Angeles to meet up with my friend Farid, who had left to pursue a career in acting. Farid and I began in the second half of the 90s.
I was visiting Universal Studios as a tourist, and in the lower part of the park a film was being shot. It was a film produced by Francis Ford Coppola with René Russo. Discreetly, I managed to separate myself from the group of visitors and approach the set. I made myself as inconspicuous as possible, but he saw me. He was dressed like a gladiator, his body over-oiled.
Since then, Farid and I have remained close friends, and I regularly travel to Los Angeles to visit him and see how his phenomenal career is progressing. But what about Delfonia? Delfonia is because Farid was cast in Tarantino's famous film Jackie Brown, in which he played the role of a small-time crook who was promptly killed by Samuel L. Jackson. Unfortunately, the poor guy was cut from the film. After the disappointment, we went to see the film together on Sunset, invited by the production company. And that's where I discovered the Delfonics, whom I knew from another song, Didn't I blow your mind. So from Delfonics to Delfonia, there's only one step, which you'll take when you put on these wonderful boots.
