THE NEWSLETTER THAT CONFIRMS THAT THIS WORLD NEEDS HEELS
Patricia is your high or in other words : "Patrichigh".
Yesterday evening I watched the report that tells the story of this young Youtuber's ascent of Everest. I wanted to be aware of what was happening on the web, and to be able to talk proudly about the news with my teenagers. But then I remembered that my teenagers couldn't care less about this friendly influencer.
So I packed myself a bag of popcorn and a flask of Moscow Mule to face the wind, the snow and the crushed ice in my cocktail. I must admit, it was a very pleasant exercise to watch. I did, however, see a lot of product placement. So yes, you need sponsorship to undertake this kind of project. It costs around 50000€ per person to climb this Himalayan peak. And there were plenty of people with this "Inoxtag". There were the cameramen, the drone pilot, the Sherpas, the cook, the make-up artist. But shouldn't Everest be left alone ? Won't mass tourism turn it into a dumping ground ? Which, having said that, it already is.
And that's exactly what the youtuber is accused of doing, giving bad publicity to a natural symbol that didn't ask for it. After all, who cares if a little guy decides to take on this challenge rather than another ? He could have chosen to climb Mont Blanc x2 or the Butte Montmartre x30. He would have had a greener carbon footprint. It's not so much the alpine feat that counts here, but how a media machine was set in motion so that no one could escape this project.
All those around him speak of a phenomenon, a sportsman revealed, a beautiful person. "Inoxtag" has become a super entrepreneur. He could have decided to drink water from the Seine as a challenge, and it wouldn't have been any different. He knew how to capture media attention for his own benefit. Put himself on stage and get his project sponsored to make his fantasy come true.
Clever. And positive. It's better to read this kind of news rather than the miscellaneous facts with which Le Parisien likes to feed our fears. And if it can inspire vocations, why not, my friends. So, to sum up, let me put it in a nutshell : Yippee ! And don't forget that it's not out of the question for me to start climbing a mountain in my own shoes, so that the world can get to know these dazzling beauties.
Because it was obvious that all this called for this song. Oh God, forgive me for this outrageousness :
