PATRICIA BELIEVES IN YOUR BOOTY - 16/04/21
So let's get out, put on our shoes, our jumpsuit and hit the pavement in Blanchet.
Now that those good words are out of the way, let me tell you about this weekend's super chick. Elisabeth Vigée le Brun, whose birthday we're celebrating today, was a great painter and portraitist whose boundless talent enabled her to paint at the courts of France, Italy and Russia.
But be warned, if there's a great chick, there's a great guy, and it's also the birthday of Henry Mancini, one of the greatest composers on planet Earth, who has worked mainly with Blake Edwards, the uneven but sympathetic director who composed Moon River for Breakfast at Tiffany's, and the music for The Pink Panther. In other words, a music god.
Let's not forget Bobby Vinton, unsurpassed interpreter of Blue Velvet, which served as the title and musical pretext for Lynch's film, and Mr Lonely, which again served as the pretext for Harmony Korine's film (a must-see if you haven't already).
I'd like to end with a friendly thought for Shu Qi, also born today, a Taiwanese actress who began her career in erotic films before working with Hou Hsiao-Hsien on a series of commercial projects and slightly second rate horror films.
In short, I love her.
Let's finish with a track that makes you want to shake your booty like crazy.
